La Bella Luce

Today has been a day about light; I truly felt la luce here in San Francisco and Napa. This morning I woke up early and went for a quick run around the streets in Haight Ashbury, it was dark when I rose and coming back the horizon was touched with the pink of the aurora of the new day. As we drove down the highway headed to Napa the light had changed, so clear and almost blue shining down over the vines and clearing out any cobwebs we had collected in the city.

We drove through the beautiful Napa valley at the height of the day and enjoyed a midday wine tour at Castello do Amorosa. The castle was built by an American entrepreneur as a vineyard.

The castle is very similar to European castles and some of the bricks come from ruins across Europe.
Verena and I indulged in the wine tasting and then drove to get a picnic lunch.

The drive back was just as beautiful and we soaked up the remaining heat of the day with the top of the car down and the wind in our hair.

We didn't want the day to end so we drove to the Cliff House to watch the sun go down and have some dinner.

We wound down the day by having a relaxing drive home after being helped to jump start our car by some lovely strangers after we left the lights on when we went to dinner! All in all a beautiful day.
